Despite the expected, typical hits & misses during Dine Out, I tend to use this period to try out new restaurants and assess the potential return in the future. If a restaurant could impress me during this time, it would probably be even better when visiting post Dine-Out. This year I continue this tradition, and first up, Black + Blue, the latest addition to the Glowbal Restaurant Group empire. Frankly I didn’t know what to expect from this restaurant because I’ve heard mixed reviews about it, in fact mostly negative both from regular diners online and my coworkers. Keeping an open mind, I gave it a try.

To wrap up this year’s Dine Out series, I went to the Bacchus Restaurant at Wedgewood Hotel. I’ve been wanting to check out this restaurant since I went to the Edible BC’s Best Market Dinner that featured Chef Lee Parsons. I was intrigued by Chef Parsons’ food so I paid his restaurant a visit.

Double date night with Mr., and our friends WK and MS. We spent a good amount of time on emails trying to decide on where to go for Dine Out. After a series of discussion, we chose La Terrazza in Yaletown. Our Dine Out experience was overall quite enjoyable. Service quality is often compromised during Dine Out but staff at La Terrzza didn’t disappoint us.

Getting a call at 4pm from Chilli House Thai Bistro that they ran out of ingredients for one appetizer and one entree for Dine Out just made you have doubts about the restaurant didn’t it? I felt the same way when my friend told me about it as we were heading for our 5:30pm dinner. With a curious mind, we went to the restaurant anyway…There was nothing stunning about the food at Chilli House Thai Bistro. But there are two things I like about it: 1) there’s free underground parking at where the restaurant is and 2) it’s right by False Creek and it’ll be nice to go on a stroll after dinner there.
