Finally took a short break from school work and had dinner with Joyce at Yaletown L’Antipasto. We had an early reservation on a week evening, which might explain why the restaurant was fairly quiet. The restaurant itself is small and tucked away, a little difficult to find. The interior of the building featured a lot of wood, dimmed lighting; it had a very cozy and romantic feel almost. We were invited by the restaurant to sample its menu, so most of the dishes we had that night were recommended, except for the beef tenderloin carpaccio.

BETA5 Chocolates – Chocolate Workshop

Thanks to Vancouver Foodster, Mr. and I won a contest prize to attend a chocolate workshop at Beta5 Chocolates on Valentine’s Day. What a perfect way to spend our evening on this special day! The chocolate event was a lot of fun, and I think it’s perfect for couples or birthday parties or even bridal shower. It’s a great gift idea for someone who loves and appreciates chocolates. I believe this is the first time that Jess & Adam hosted event of this kind, but I heard they might be doing something like this more often in the future. I definitely recommend others to give this a try – you will enjoy it!
Lazy Brunch at Acme Cafe

It was one of those mornings, where you roll out of bed and you think, “Damn, I really don’t want to do anything. I’m hungry, but I don’t want to cook.” Not sure about you, but I get those days often – not that I always succumb to them.
So of course, cocoon myself into my blankets like a hot dog for a few more minutes before reaching over to text my friend if she wanted some brunch. On her recommendation, we headed out to Acme Cafe, which is in that sort of shady part between Chinatown/Gastown area.
Ciao Bella – Dine Out Vancouver 2012

Finally, my last Dine Out post of the year – Ciao Bella. I remember two years ago a few of us showed up at Ciao Bella on Halloween Day, in our costumes, trying to get a table for dinner. To my surprise, they actually let us in, despite the funny looks on some diners’ face. It was a short but pleasant meal, but it warranted a return visit during this year’s Dine Out.

Last week we were also graciously invited to attend a wine and tequilla & mezcal tasting at the YEW restaurant + bar at the Four Seasons Hotel. It was a preview of the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Food & Wine Festival on March 22-24, 2012, the only one of its kind in Latin America.
