Honestly I was hesitant to create this post because it’s out of the norm. From time to time we do receive requests from PR companies to post about food events and we would do it simply to spread the word so you could attend and enjoy it, but the one I’m about to tell you is not exactly a food event. Rather, it’s an ad for a company. But I’m doing it anyway, partly for a friend and partly because it’s for a good cause.
GoodNews.com is one of the daily deal websites that has gained a lot of popularity recently. It’s partially due to its unique selling proposition – donating part of the purchases to a local cause. On Oct 28, GoodNews.com is running a special campaign, in partnership with Re-Up BBQ, to support Grind for Kids. For one day only, you can get a Re-Up Pulled Pork Sandwich for $1 (reg. $6.72) and the entire dollar will be donated to Grind for Kids. That means you are making a donation to a charity but getting a free sandwich in return. Not a bad deal. I haven’t visited Re-Up yet so I can’t comment on the food – but for $1, I think I might get one for myself too.
