For my birthday, Mr. surprised me with a dinner at Supermarine. Since its opening, I've been wanting to check it out so I was very excited when our car pulled up right in front of the restaurant. Supermarine focuses on sustainable, seasonal, local products, highlighting the best that our farmers and fishers can offer. There are a number of staple items on the menu with seasonal dishes as well as daily features.
[Christmas on VanFoodies] 25 Years of Gingerbread Lane at the Hyatt
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the lobby of the Hyatt Regency Vancouver is currently filled with gingerbread houses built by students, and amateur and professional bakers. [Christmas on VanFoodies] Holiday Flavours at Cartems Donuterie
I've always been intrigued by Cartems's donuts, since its pop-up days. I like the various types of donut, their different texture and the featuring of seasonal flavours. For the Christmas season, they introduced a few new flavours and on this one day where I was craving some donuts, I picked up half a dozen Cartems donuts.
#HarvestHaus 2015 – Eating & Drinking with #SaminHand
Continuing last year's tradition, Vancouverites once again celebrated Oktoberfest at Harvest Haus, under the big tent at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza. Mr. and I went to the Friday seating on the second weekend, checking out the German-style food, beer, live music and entertainers. We've put some food dishes to the test with Samuel Adams, a US craft brewery that I have been spotting at many local food events, supporting and promoting the idea of food and beer pairing.
11th Annual ChefmeetsBCGrape Signature Tasting – Recap
When Bryan (the “beer guy”) isn’t writing about beer I put him to work as my camera man - so he and I were proud and honoured to represent VanFoodies at the 11th Annual ChefmeetsBCGrape while our fearless leader, Joyce, had other work commitments. The ChefmeetsBCGrape Signature Tasting is a fundraiser for the Arts Club Theatre to support the local theatre arts while showcasing BC food paired with BC VQA Wine.
