Bacchus Bistro at Domaine de Chaberton

On a sunny Saturday, several of us were on a private tour to visit three wineries in Langley, one of which was Domaine de Chaberton. Although not a part of the tour itinerary, we opted for the a la carte lunch at Bacchus Bistro. This French bistro is a hidden gem tucked away in the Fraser Valley, recently won Bronze in Best Winery/Vineyard Dining by the Vancouver Magazine's 2010 Restaurant Awards.

Red Fish Blue Fish: Fish & Chips on the pier

Who would’ve known grilled oysters with coleslaw all wrapped up in a soft taco shell would be so damn delicious? I certainly didn’t before Red Fish Blue Fish. Red Fish Blue Fish is a little Fish & Chips stand located on the pier in the heart of downtown Victoria. It’s below street level and not easy to find, but the line up starts well before lunch time and extends into late afternoon.

Pho Viet Anh: The Little Pho Place Around the Corner

Best pho experience I've ever had! After a raving review from Ryan, we decided to grab a little lunch from a Pho joint (FYI it’s pronounced “fuh”; are you happy now Frank? Are you?) down the street, called Pho Viet Anh. This place definitely stands apart from the typical pho places around Lower Mainland. Inside, the restaurant is dim and cozy. The windows are mostly covered with bamboo sticks, the walls are painted in a brick-red colour, and the décor is very much Asian, though I can’t speak to its authenticity. Moving onto the menu, there is a choice of four distinctive types of broth: traditional beef, hot ’n spicy beef, chicken, and vegetable. In addition to beef, there are also chicken and veggie options as well. I’m a huge sucker for choices so this is definitely a plus for me. However, there are less beef options, with the menu missing the essential (to me anyways) beef tendon.

Red Lobster

Ever saw a commercial of which you found the product very appealing but you couldn't buy it? I felt this way when I saw the juicy, succulent shrimps and lobsters in the Red Lobster commercial on Food Network. Bad news - there's no Red Lobster in Vancouver! I must be blessed with all the luck. While enroute from Oregon back to Vancouver, we drove by a number of Red Lobster sign along I5. Exit 109, please.

Cheesecake Factory

On Facebook, I often saw my friends post pictures of a restaurant called Cheesecake Factory whenever they went to the States. It sounded like a must-go place in U.S. With a curious mind, I decided to check out the Bellevue store when I was enroute to Oregon.
