Perhaps with the exception of downtown Vancouver and some Richmond hotels, hotel dining doesn't usually have a good reputation. That doesn't stop me from being curious and wanting to try. So when the Executive Hotel in Coquitlam got a new restaurant, the Wild Fig, and was offering a coupon deal, CC and I gave it a try.
[Food Truck] Fliptop Filipino Fusion
Last weekend we checked out the Columbia StrEAT in New Westminster, featuring more than 50 food trucks from the Lower Mainland. We tried a few trucks, including Fliptop Filipino Fusion. This food truck is usually in the Fairview area during the week, not in my 'hood, so I was quite excited about the opportunity to try them.
Charcoal Sushi & BBQ Restaurant Richmond
Mr. and I were in the mood for some sushi but I wanted something more delicate, so we ditched the obvious option in BanZai and ventured out to another sushi restaurant - Charcoal Sushi. It's more than sushi at Charcoal. You can also order Korean BBQ here with lots of meat options for grilling.
Columbia StrEAT Recap ft. Roaming Dragon, Casalinga, La Taqueria
Last weekend, New Westminster hosted its own street cart fest, called Columbia StrEAT. The stretch of Columbia Street between 4th and 6th were closed off to pedestrians only, where food trucks were parked and tables were set up for some feasting. 16 food trucks in Vancouver came to the event, along with live entertainment from New West's own 2 Days & Counting.
Banana Leaf (Broadway)
An impromptu dinner took Mr. and me to Banana Leaf, the location on West Broadway near Cambie Street. We were in the mood for some good Asian food.
