Just a couple weeks ago it was Moon Festival aka Mid Autumn Festival. To us, it's an occasion for family gathering, so Mr. and I, along with our parents, went out for a big dinner at Parklane Chinese Restaurant.

As you know, for about 2 months I was out and about eating at many Chinese restaurants in Lower Mainland to help discover the best restaurants for the Chinese Restaurant Awards. If you are following us on social media you would see pictures of some of the places I visited, without leaving you a clue of what I thought about the food. Zhao’s Soup House – New restaurant makes soup with no MSG
In Richmond, you will never run out of ideas for Chinese food: seafood restaurant, Hong Kong cafe, noodle house, Shanghainese, etc. There are many long-standing restaurants, but new ones also pop up all over the city. Recently, a soup house was opened on Alexandra Road, specialized in hearty soups without the use of MSG. I took the soup expert, aka Mama Lam, along with Papa Lam and Mr., to give them a try.
Dinesty Chinese Restaurant – Pay Up Before You’re Done?
Surprisingly I've never been to Dinesty even though it's one of the popular Shanghainese restaurants in Lower Mainland. Now that I'm in Richmond, of course I took the opportunity to visit one of the locations -- the one on Ackroyd Road.
Columbia StrEAT Recap ft. Roaming Dragon, Casalinga, La Taqueria
Last weekend, New Westminster hosted its own street cart fest, called Columbia StrEAT. The stretch of Columbia Street between 4th and 6th were closed off to pedestrians only, where food trucks were parked and tables were set up for some feasting. 16 food trucks in Vancouver came to the event, along with live entertainment from New West's own 2 Days & Counting.
