Dine Out Vancouver Returns & Past Dine Out Reviews

Dine Out Vancouver 2012 is set for Jan 20-Feb 5, 2012 and is now open for reservations. In its 10th year, 230 restaurants are participating in this event, offering prix fixe menus at $18, $28 or $38. I thought I'd round up some past Dine Out experience that we have had in recent years (2009-2011), good and bad. Maybe this will help your research as you try to determine which ones to try.

Burgoo Bistro (Main Street)

I made a promise to myself that I wanted to go to Burgoo before my birthday in December. Why? I've heard some good things about it which got me really curious about this restaurant, yet every time I went it was just too busy that I couldn't bear the long wait. Finally came the day I celebrated my birthday with some friends, I told myself I had to make it happen. No matter what. Seven of us tiny Chinese people ended up squishing around a table of 4. Seriously, we made it work. Cozy but it worked.

New York Continues – Halal Guys, Bread and Butter, Momofuku, Da Gennaro

In continuation to my last post, here's a few more places that we tried. Other than these ones we also tried sushi in New York (no, not Mr. Robato). It was awful, maybe because the fish quality in British Columbia is much higher, not sure. Also tried this supposedly "Vietnamese" restaurant, but for some reason it had a strange variety of items on their menu including various Chinese, Thai, and other dishes. Will not bother to review those thoroughly.

Brunch at Giraffe Restaurant

Giraffe, an interesting name for a restaurant. At first I thought it's just a random name, but then I realized this waterfront restaurant in White Rock is in fact a giraffe-themed restaurant. It was a classic brunch menu, with items such as Eggs Benedict, Scrambled Eggs, French Toast, Frittata and Hash.

Vancouver Christmas Market 2011

On a Monday evening, I checked out the Vancouver Christmas Market with my coworkers. In its second year, the Vancouver Christmas Market is modelled after the German Christmas Market. Located at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza, you will find Christmas gifts, craft goods, a giant Carousel (which I forgot to take a picture of) and of course, food and drinks. Here's a quick take of what I had while I was there.
