The First Tastes of Fall at Hawksworth Restaurant #DineWithAmex

As mentioned in my earlier post, we were invited to attend the private Amex Platinum Cardmember Dinner at Hawksworth Restaurant, joining roughly 60 Amex Platinum Cardmembers at the York Room earlier this week. Overall, I thought the dinner had delivered on all expectations that I had. There was a lot of textural contrast on each plate, with flavours that reminded you of fall. It was also in this intimate setting, allowing you to mingle with friends, or meet some new friends, over a long, elegant dining table.

Celebrating Birthday at Market by Jean-Georges

For her birthday, I took MaMa Lam out for a fancy dinner. Market has been on her list for quite some time now, so that naturally became our destination. It was a very nice restaurant, lots of natural sunlight from the windows, modern and spacious.

#TurnOnTheRajio with Rajio Japanese Public House

Partnering once again with the team at VANEATS, we were invited to sample the #TurnOnRajio package. If you remember, last time we checked out Rajio we quite enjoyed it, so I was happy to plan a return visit and I invited LW to join me.

Guu Garlic – The one that started it all for me

With different Japanese izakayas popping up around town, it's been forever since I last visited a Guu location. I remember the Thurlow location was my very first izakaya that I've visited in Vancouver and it was such a unique experience: the screaming servers, the exchange of Japanese throughout the room and the long list of small plates that we could order. It was so much fun I took a visiting guest to Guu Garlic after. Now, years later, I'm back.

Zhao’s Soup House – New restaurant makes soup with no MSG

In Richmond, you will never run out of ideas for Chinese food: seafood restaurant, Hong Kong cafe, noodle house, Shanghainese, etc. There are many long-standing restaurants, but new ones also pop up all over the city. Recently, a soup house was opened on Alexandra Road, specialized in hearty soups without the use of MSG. I took the soup expert, aka Mama Lam, along with Papa Lam and Mr., to give them a try.
