KFC’s Double Down – the manwich experience

When the Double Down Sandwich was first introduced in the US, I knew right away this delicious meat on meat on more meat sandwich will one day end up in my tummy. Call it man-stinct or what have you, I just knew. While travelling through Washington, this day came. I started it like any other day, full of vigour and testosterone. However by the afternoon, I wasn’t feeling up to my usual self. So after I wrestled with a couple great whites, fought with a band of ninja pirates, and conquered a few local villages, I decided to call it a day and pickup a colonel’s Double Down for dinner.

Edible BC’s Cooking with BC’s Best Market Dinner ft. Chef Lee Parsons

The dinner is part of a program organized by Edible BC called Cooking with BC's Best Market Dinner. At each dinner, a renowned local chef would display his or her culinary skills and inspirations. First booked in February this year, we finally got to savour the dishes that we have been yearning for over the last six months. The chef for dinner was Lee Parsons, the executive chef at Bacchus Restaurant in the Wedgewood Hotel.

Starbucks Mooncakes ft. the Origin of Mooncake

My parents were just in HK for a couple of weeks, who happened to have spent this year's Moon Festival (aka Mid-Autumn Festival) there. I usually provide them with a shopping list, but this time around, I've got only one item: Starbucks Mooncakes. Yes, you read it right. Starbucks does sell mooncakes but they're not available here. That's why I had to make sure my parents would bring me back some. Sure enough, I got a box to try.

[Wines] Tasting the Wines of Australia – Part 2

During my last post, I discussed the delicious food and wine pairings at this event; but there was much much more -- over 70 types of wine was presented for tasting, and I did what I can to try them all. Here's a list of my favourites. I’d like to make it clear that I’m by no means a wine connoisseur. This is a new found appreciation, so if you are a seasoned wine drinker, you should take what I have to say with a grain of salt. However, if you are a beginner yourself, you’ll likely find my opinions useful.

[Wines] Tasting the Wines of Australia – Part 1

I was invited to participate in Wine Australia’s media tasting. Yum would best describe this wine and dine experience, and it all started with these wine and food pairings. I went into a bit more detail with my favourites. Please stay tuned for part 2 of this post, as I use my rudimentary yet honest experience with wine to talk about the six categories of wine sampled at this event.
