A new pork katsu (aka cutlet) shop opened up in Surrey. Turns out it's a chain with multiple locations in Toronto. This Surrey location is the first in BC. The menu is quite simple: variations of pork loin or tenderloin katsu, or chicken or shrimp katsu if you don't feel like pork. Alongside there's also appetizers or fried chicken to add to the mix.
Afternoon Tea at Origo Club, Richmond
For Mother's Day, I took Mama Lam to afternoon tea at Origo Club. They offered a special menu for the weekend, but surprisingly, it was at its regular price of $45 per person. Good on them for not raising the price on this special day because many places do. The number of items was the same as usual but with a different line-up of desserts.
[Wine] California Zinfandel at Vancouver International Wine Festival
This year, Vancouver International Wine Festival features the wine region of California. It's impressive that the state of California alone can be the featured region. [Wine] Gusto Latinoamericano Wine Lunch at Vancouver International Wine Festival
Even though the theme region for this year's Vancouver International Wine Festival was California, there were many events featuring other wine-making countries/regions. Lucky for me I was able to attend the Gusto Latinoamericano wine lunch at Lift Bar Grill View. As you may have guessed already, this wine lunch highlighted wines from Argentina and Chile.
