Before we did our brewery walking tour in Ballard, Bad Jimmy’s was actually the first brewery we visited during our recent trip to Seattle. It’s not quite in the cluster of breweries in Ballard but it’s close to that area.

The Beers

Here they have a list of Year Round beers and a list of Seasonals. It’s $9 for a flight of Year Round or Seasonals, or $10 to mix them up (stout costs extra $2), or simply $2.50 for a 5oz taster. So naturally, wanting to try more, we ordered a flight off each list. (more…)

While we were staying in Courtenay, we learned that there were two breweries in town plus another one in Cumberland. It was a very hot summer day and we needed some refreshing beer to cool us down, so we paid Gladstone Brewing a visit!

Gladstone focuses on Belgian ales, European lagers, and Pacific Northwest style India pale ales. The interior is quite interesting. It reminded me of an auto repair shop. In fact, its flight paddles are license plates mounted on a piece of wood plank.

As a Surrey resident and SFU grad, I’ve walked by Central City Brewing Company countless times. It’s a wonder why I never sat down, and tried their beers.

So on a chilly Friday afternoon, I visited CCBC for a quick drink. They had a Beer Flight available on the menu. You can have four 5oz glasses for only 6 bucks—a great deal considering a 20oz pint is $5.80.

From left to right, they are Red Racer Classic White Ale, Red Racer Raspberry Wheat Ale, Red Racer Nitrogen stout, and Red Racer IPA.
