The Neate family (owner of JJ Bean Coffee) first started their business in Vancouver in the 1940s delivering coffee and donuts around town. The donut aspect was lost over the years but now they're bringing it back. Enters Neate Donuts at the Oceanic Plaza. The grand opening promotion is not until May 5-10 but I was in the area so I had to go check it out.
Until March 1, you will find the Frost & Fable Pop-up on Fridays and Saturdays at Hotel Belmont in Downtown Vancouver. Inspired by an ice cave bar experience, this pop-up serves up unique, interesting cocktails that are paired with an elevated bar bite menu. I recently went on a walking food tour along the West End of Robson Street in Vancouver. That area has always been known as a foodie spot, with a wide variety of restaurants scattered across several blocks. I took Papa Lam to Honolulu Coffee's Downtown Vancouver Nelson location for their Hot Chocolate Festival creations. They have two flavours available throughout the festival. They have actually extended their offerings to end on February 17, 2025 (the official festival ends on February 14).
Since Alouette Bistro opened in 2021, I haven't had much opportunity to try them since Downtown Vancouver is no longer my stomping ground. Their Dine Out menu offers limited, but solid choices, and some of my favourite classic French dishes. So, I was actually quite excited to try their Dine Out menu and I had Papa Lam as my lunch date. Yes, the $49 Dine Out menu is available for both lunch and dinner here at Alouette.
