Main Street has recently established itself as one of the foodie destinations. So when I received the invite to the Tasting Plates Main Street edition, I was quite happy and excited to accept it. Also glad to have LW join me at this event.

At this event we checked out the following restaurants. Some I’m familiar with, some are new to me. We were quite proud that this time around we managed to visit every one of them (in Gastown we actually missed one stop because we ran out of time).

  • Tapas23
  • Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co
  • Main Street Honey Shoppe
  • Shaktea
  • Rosemary Rocksalt
  • Miura Waffle Milk Bar

Once again I’ve used Storify to build my story using my Twitter coverage from the event along with additional comment at each stop. Click on the image or link below to check it out. Find out what I liked and what I didn’t like on this tour:

A couple of weeks ago, we were invited to the Tasting Plates Gastown Edition. Gastown is a neighbourhood that intrigues me but I never spend enough time exploring. The event offered me an opportunity to re-visit some restaurants while discovering some new ones.

Instead of duplicating my Twitter coverage through the evening of the event, I have taken a different approach with this recap post. I’ve used Storify to build my story using pictures from the event along with additional comment at each stop. Click on the image or link below to check it out. Find out what I liked and what I didn’t like, and what I wished to have done differently on this tour:

This is my first time going to the Tasting Plates events. Here’s a little recap of my highlights of the EastVan edition. Kicked off the event with Via Tevere Pizzeria, where they served two kinds of Neapolitan pizza. The first one was the classic margherita and the second is the capricciosa. The capricciosa had prosciutto cotto, salami, artichoke, mushroom, and nicoise olive, whereas the margherita had San Morzano tomatoes, fior di latte, and basil. I am no expert at authentic Italian pizza, but I really enjoyed the margherita. The balance of topping to crust ratio was good, the tomato sauce had a nice balance of acidity, and the mozzarella (fior de latte) was scrumptious.

This next one is really a matter of preference with gelato. For me, it wasn’t quite spot on but for those of you who love incredibly rich, creamy gelato, you will like Gelateria Dolce Amore. (more…)

Last month we were invited to the 2nd Annual Tasting Plates Downtown Vancouver edition. This is a series of events put on by Richard Wolak of Vancouver Foodster. At this event, participants, with the help of an event map, self-guided around downtown Vancouver to try out nine restaurants in one evening.

Knowing that we couldn’t hit up all places, my friend JN and I had to strategize and plan our route. Of course, we started out at the kick-off spot, Vancouver Fan Club, with musician guest Gio Levy.
