2013 Advanced #Bordeaux Wine Tasting with Union des Grand Crus de Bordeaux

For the first time, the Union des Grand Crus de Bordeaux, an association of 133 grand crus estates in the Bordeaux area of France, has made a stop in Vancouver for their North America wine tour. Held at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, this ticketed event gave participants an opportunity to have an advanced tasting of the 2013 Bordeaux release that will be available at BC Liquor Stores this October.

To date our Garibaldi Beer Club has had 13 beer nights, so it was about time we had a wine night. Plus it was good timing for not one, but two couples in our club, who are getting married this year, to obtain some feedback/ideas on potential wines for their nuptial-day shenanigans.

[Wines] 25 Under $25 From Around the World at #VIWF

The last Vancouver International Wine Festival event that we attended was the popular 25 Under $25. It's one of the last events of the festival and in my mind, it's a great event for first-timers or wine beginners. Tickets were priced reasonably and you get to try 25 wines that are generally priced under $25, a price point that would be affordable to most, if not all, of us wine drinkers.

As Kathryn mentioned in her debut post, we checked out the Restaurant Australia event as part of the Vancouver International Wine Festival. Being the featured country this year, it's only fitting that there was an event highlighting the Aussie culinary culture and how it pairs with wine.
