The Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association recently released the result of its 2011 Canadian Chef Survey. This is a survey conducted among professional chefs who rated the popularity of various menu items and cooking methods, identifying hot trends, up and comers, perennial favourites and yesterday’s news. A top 10 list was announced for each category and here are the top 3 highlights along with my thoughts.
Breakfast in Bed at Fairmont Pacific Rim
Ahhh… breakfast in bed… what a wonderful concept. People would tell you the bed should be for sleep and sex only, but I’d disagree. A bed’s comfort level is at its highest in the morning. Trust me, I’ve spend many days sleeping in to research this thoroughly. It’s full of warmth and softness. And to have someone make and deliver breakfast for me to eat in bed, it made me feel all fluffy inside. I’m actually not a breakfast guy, but I do love breakfast. How does that work you ask? I don’t usually eat in the morning, but I do like what goes in a breakfast. All that fat, protein, and carbs, it’s a TRI-WINNING combination.

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Shamrock Shake
In North America, part of our tradition is to drink up a Shamrock Shake from McDonald's. And I didn't know about this until after St. Patty's Day last year! So as soon as March rolled around, Mr. and I went to McDonald's and grabbed a Shamrock Shake.

The Arts Club Theatre Company just announced the lineup of its spring 2011 Celebrity Chef Cooking Classes series. It's similar to the Edible BC Market Dinner series, another great opportunity to meet some of the finest chefs in Vancouver and learn a few cooking tips and tricks from them.
