The 2014 Vancouver International Wine Festival has come to an end, and we were invited to cover two events. First of all, a glimpse of the International Tasting Room. There were various sessions on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. We went to Thursday evening one; apparently it also tends to be the most "tame" session of all.
2014 Vancouver International Wine Festival Launch Party
On Monday, the 2014 Vancouver International Wine Festival officially kicked off. I was at the launch party where the Executive Director, Harry Hertscheg, along with Mr. Jean-Christophe Fleury, Consul General of France in Vancouver, did the ceremonious countdown to the festival.

I was invited to the annual portfolio tasting of Icon Fine Wine & Spirits, which represents a huge portfolio of wineries around the world. There was a lot of wine for tasting and I don't think I even went through 1/4 of them!

My old-time blogger friend Sherman and I checked out Mosaic's latest Taiwanese Tasting Menu. Inspired by his recent visit to Taiwan, executive chef Thomas Heinrich put out this 4-course menu with a wine pairing option.
The Observatory [Dine Out Vancouver 2014]
It has been a few years since we wanted to go to The Observatory on Grouse Mountain, but every time the menu just wasn't very interesting to us. Finally this year's menu seemed to have something for everyone so we booked it as part of our Chinese New Year celebration.
