Last year, a pop-up bakery took Vancouver by the storm with a cookie made with the Asian White Rabbit candy. This summer, Chef Andrew Han turned his pop-up into a cafe. Kouign Cafe is now open in Chinatown. While I was in the area, I swung by and purchased one of everything that was available at that time. I've never bought pastries from their pop-up shop before so this would be my first time trying them.
Another hot chocolate stop I've made was Chez Christophe in Burnaby. I remember meeting Christophe at a work conference years ago when he was doing cooking demonstration. That was before he opened his shop in Burnaby. Since then, I've been there a few times for pastries, but this was my first time trying their hot chocolate fest creations.
I was quite excited when Mon Paris opened up in Burnaby. I was following them on Instagram and the cakes were just beautiful! I also love that it's near the Metrotown Skytrain station, which means easy access from Coquitlam or downtown. Now is your chance to try some goodies from Mon Paris. On the rare occasion that CC and I got to hang out we chose to check out CandyTown in Yaletown, and we decided to first grab a bite at Small Victory Bakery.
A couple of weeks ago I managed to steal a couple hours of free time from CC, so we went for afternoon tea at Cakes n Sweets. It's a small bakery tucked in the corner of a strip mall in Coquitlam. It's my second time for afternoon tea there; first time, I took Mama Lam and we quite enjoyed it.
