If you haven’t heard already, 15 additional food trucks will start appearing on a Vancouver street this month. According to Vancity Buzz, that means there will be a total of 114 food trucks in Vancouver by the time they’re all fully operational. This is exciting news! Mr. and I were blown away by the pods of food trucks we saw in Portland and we’re glad to see it happen in Vancouver.

New and old food trucks will slowly kick off their season, if they haven’t already. I have yet to try some new ones this year, but here is the food truck series that I did last summer. This may help you pick out a few good ones to hold you over while waiting for the new ones to pop up. (more…)

Continuing my food truck adventures with KB and AM, our next stop was Soho Road Naan Kebab. It was their second last day stationed at the corner of Howe and Smithe. As of today, they should be at Granville and Georgia, a much more central location, in my opinion.

I believe in “less is more” when it comes to menu planning, that excelling in a small menu is much better than doing mediocre in a large menu. Therefore, I was pleased to see a focused menu – just 4 items. Each customer also receives a sample of Mango Lassi for free. It’s really good but would be even better if properly chilled. Couldn’t tell whether you could actually order a full size drink or not.

Of the three meat options, I chose Tandoori Chicken, given that they claim to serve “Traditional UK Tandoori” – it must be their specialty item. The skewers of tandoori chicken does look pretty good on the back of the truck.

It does take a few minutes for the food, but I know it’s freshly made. (more…)
