Molten Lava Cake: Can a Food Blogger Cook?

On V-Day, I had the pleasure of being treated to a delicious homemade dessert by Joyce. And yes, I’m referring to food (mind out of the gutter folks). For us men, chocolates are simply bitter sweet snacks that we sometimes choose over fruits. They have never been an important part of my life, and they will never serve as a substitute for anything else. So right off the bat, Joyce gave herself a pretty big challenge to overcome, not taking the easy way out to please a man.

Yew Restaurant + Bar feat. Olympics Menu

During the month of January, Yew Restaurant + Bar ran its 3-course No Passport Required Menu for $35 per person, featuring ingredients/food culture from the 3 Canadian Olympic cities: Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver. I was intrigued by the offering, so Mr. and I went there on a weekday evening.

Blue Water Cafe + Raw Bar feat. Unsung Heroes Festival

After doing the research for my last post, I was intrigued by some of the menu items. One of which was Blue Water Cafe's Unsung Heroes Festival that took place through to end of January. If my memory serves me right, I went to Blue Water once years ago, before my foodie years. At that time I didn't quite know how to enjoy good food. So when I got a hold of a $50 gift certificate for the restaurant, I invited a friend along and gave it another try.

Without Dine Out Vancouver this winter, so what now?

As you may all have heard, Dine Out Vancouver has been postponed to later in the Spring, April 26-May 6. While you start to wonder what to do to stop your food craving, a number of restaurants have put together some foodie events to help you get through this winter.

Two Chinese Birthday Feasts in Richmond

Another component of my birthday celebration was two separate feasts in Richmond. I don't usually blog about Chinese food because I don't eat out at Chinese restaurants very often. Well, mom can cook awesome Chinese food so why bother dining out (haha another shameless plug for mom!) Yet this time around the dishes were rather complex and fancy so I think it's worth paying the price and enjoy the food without any hassle in the kitchen.
