Having planned to spend a day in North Vancouver, of course I wouldn't miss the opportunity to visit Thomas Haas. This patisserie has many accolades under its belt, including the most recent "Best Last Course" from Vancouver Magazine's 20th Annual Restaurant Awards and owner/pastry chef Thomas Haas being one of the latest inductees into the BC Restaurant Hall of Fame.
Japadog – Updated!
Japadog recently opened a second stand right across from my office at Bentall One. I always knew about the original location at Burrard and Smithe but never paid them a visit. Now that it's so close by and hearing that my coworker really enjoyed his Japadogs, I finally went and grabbed my first Japadog.
La Casa Gelato
After a nice dinner at a patio by the water, what else can you do to wrap up the nice warm Thursday evening? I joined the other tens of people for some gelato at La Casa Gelato.
Papaya Hut – Office Delivery
For office luncheon, we often opt for restaurants that are close to the office. For our latest service recognition luncheon, we decided to venture out and go for something farther in distance. We first chose Thai food as our choice of cuisine, then we selected Papaya Hut as our destination.
Dinner with a Hobby Chef
I was invited to a reunion dinner with some elementary school classmates. Turns out one of them, Ken, is a hobby chef. In fact, he has previously worked in the kitchen for restaurants such as La Regalade, Mistral French Bistro and CinCin. He has now moved on to another field of work but would entertain friends with his cooking. Of course, I wouldn't miss out on the chance to try it out.
