The Ebelskiver Lady, Seattle

Ebelskiver, what? That's my first thought when I walked past the Ebelskiver Lady booth at the Fremont Sunday Market in Seattle. Curiosity combined with an empty stomach, I approached the booth and asked the lady behind it. Sure enough, she is the Ebelskiver Lady.

Chocolate Festival 2010 – Chocolate, Wine and More Chocolate

After attending the Great Wine & Chocolate Dessert Challenge two weeks ago, we received invitations to two more Chocolate Festival 2010 events. Mr. and I attended both events this weekend, making it a chocolate trilogy. And here is Part 2 and Part 3 of the Chocolate Festival Saga. We'd like to thank Dawn Donahue, Festival Director, for inviting us to the events. And a big congratulations to all festival staff and volunteers for putting on such a great series of chocolate filled events this year.

Legendary Noodle House

With two locations in the city, the Legendary Noodle House serves up big dishes of tasty Northern Chinese style hand-made noodles. We visited the Denman store; and as with all shops on Denman, it was a little crowded. The decorations are fitting of the place, maybe they are trying a little too hard on the “Chineseness” of it, but I could see its appeal to the general public. The kitchen is a semi-open style, which is great because you get to see the chef prepare your noodles made-to-order. It’s quite an art form; it takes a lot of pulling, slamming, and kneading to produce a fine firmness (think al dente pasta but better). Overall it reminded me of the street-side noodle joints in Tianjin.

BC’s Best Market Dinner Schedule for 2011

As mentioned in our previous posts, Edible BC offers an exciting series of events called "Cooking with BC's Best Guest Chefs". Joyce and I (Frank) have been to the one with Chef Lee Parson from Bacchus Restaurant. The folks at Edible BC has just released the 2011 schedule. Here is a brief list.

Chocolate Festival 2010 – The Great Wine & Dessert Challenge

Thanks to Vancouver Foodster, I scored two free tickets to attend a Chocolate Festival event - The Great Wine & Dessert Challenge. It took place last Sunday night at Place des Arts in Coquitlam. At the event we got to taste 5 dessert wines, paired with 5 chocolate-inspired desserts by Gourmet Baker. John Gerum from West Coast Wine Education led the event by explaining the dessert wine production and how to pair chocolate with wine & liquer.
