Dine Out Vancouver 2026 has come and gone and in addition to media tastings, I also did a few meals on my own dime. One of which was Yuu Japanese Tapas in Richmond and they have a $25 menu for lunch and dinner, plus a menu for “Dine Out Bites” for under $10 and special drink offers. I actually went to Yuu last year with a few of my friends for Dine Out, and it was a $20 menu (with enhancement items at a surcharge). This year it’s gone up to $25 with no enhancement options, but I still think it’s a good value menu so I took Mama and Papa Lam there for lunch. They have also extended their Dine Out menu until February 16, 2026.

Yuu’s Dine Out menu is set up as a Teishoku Set. My parents and I decided to order two full sets, and a couple of items from the Dine Out Bites menu to round out the meal. There is no option for appetizers for the Teishoku Set, but it’s only because each set already includes four small plates of appetizers:
- K-Crunch Cucumbers – Smashed cucumbers tossed in gochujang, sesame, garlic, and soy
- Chicken Skin Crunchies – Crispy chicken skin chips seasoned Japanese-style
- Takoyaki – The iconic Osaka street snack
- Garlic Butter Edamame – Deep-fried edamame tossed with fresh garlic, sesame oil, and sea salt.

Out of the four appetizers, we really liked the Chicken Skin Crunchies (you can order even more from the Dine Out Bites menu) – it was crispy and seasoned well. The Takoyaki were decent and the Garlic Butter Edamame was flavourful. Despite its name, I found the K-Crunch Cucumbers to be limpy actually, perhaps from sitting in the marinade for too long.

For entrees, there are five options. We chose the Asari Miso Cream Ramen and Hayashi Demi Beef Rice. Both were hearty, tasty and were of generous portions. There were lots of clams in the Asari Creamy Miso Ramen, and the broth was savoury, creamy, and not salty. Similarly, there was a lot of beef in the Hayashi Demi Beef Rice. It’s sliced hotpot beef but I didn’t mind it, as it helped absorb all the sauce.
- Asari Miso Cream Ramen – Miso cream ramen with clams, garlic, and a buttery finish
- Hayashi Demi Beef Rice – Beef slices simmered in a Hayashi demi sauce with onions and mushrooms over steamed rice
From the Dine Out Bites menu, we ordered the Wasabi Salt Abalone Mushroom and Okonomiyaki. We all liked the Wasabi Salt Abalone Mushroom. It had a nice crunch, the mushroom was meaty, and the wasabi salt wasn’t too overpowering. The Okonomiyaki came to the table still sizzling; it had nice flavours but I found it to be a bit too doughy for my liking.

Lastly, we got one each of the desserts. The Melon Coconut Tapioca was refreshing; the Ube Cloud Panna Cotta was okay. The taste of both desserts reminded me of bubble tea flavouring, and I didn’t find them to be anything special.

Final Thoughts
Overall, it was a satisfying meal. With two full sets and two appetizers, the three of us still had leftovers to take home. For $25 per person, it’s a solid choice for a casual lunch or dinner.
