Aluminum Chef Competition

In conjunction with the 22nd annual Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival, the 4th annual Aluminum Chef Competition will take place at Creekside Park. The 2010 competition is welcoming top culinary students from Vancouver Community College, the Art Institute and representatives from the BC Junior Chefs Association to compete in a culinary showdown for the $1,000 cash prize and the Aluminum Chef trophy. The eight student chefs will be using ingredients from within a 100 mile radius of Vancouver and the dishes must use the non-stick “Slide” aluminum foil during preparation or for presentation.

Marc André Choquette, executive chef of the Voya Restaurant at the Loden hotel, will be the celebrity judge at this year’s Aluminum Chef Competition. Chef Choquette will be there during the final heats at 2:00 and 3:00 pm, with the 2010 Aluminum Chef being crowned shortly after.

What’s in it for your dad?

One lucky audience will be picked to be a guest judge for each round of the competition. That could be your dad!

Vancouver’s 1st Cupcake Challenge

Mijune, a fellow food blogger at Follow Me Foodie, has put together Vancouver’s 1st Cupcake Challenge that will take place on Sunday, 11:00am – 3:30pm, at the Roundhouse Community Centre in Yaletown. This is a great opportunity to meet local bakers and test a variety of cupcake flavours and recipes.
