April 2-30: New Veganminster Passport Event (Contest)
To promote New Westminster to be the Vegan Culinary Destination, a number of local businesses have partnered together to run a contest.
To enter, pick up a New Veganminster Passport at any of the following locations: Crepe Des Amis, Karmavore Vegan Shop, Coming Home Café or Shine Wellness Space. Then, visit any of the businesses listed in the New Veganminster Passport between April 2nd and April 30th and receive a stamp in your passport when you follow the instructions listed. The more stamps you collect the more chances you have to win!

April 30: Arts Club Theatre’s Food, Wine, Adventure Dinner
The Food, Wine, Adventure Dinner is hosted by Lise Asimont, the Director of Grower Relations at Sonoma’s Francis Ford Coppola Winery, with an Italian four-course menu in honour of the famous filmmaker’s heritage. The winery was recognized with the coveted USA Producer of the Year Award in 2011 at the International Wine and Spirit Competition.

April 5: SakuraB Bento Box Lunch at Cherry Jam Downtown Concert
To kick off the 6th annual Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival there will be a concert at Burrard SkyTrain Station on April 5. As part of the celebration, Master chef Hidekazu Tojo and five other top local Japanese chefs from Shuraku, Zest, Miku, Zen, & Toshi Sushi have created the SakuraB Bento (lunch box) for you – a limited-edition culinary treat to make your celebration this year even more memorable.
Each bento box is $20 and it’s available by pre-order only. Remember not to throw away the bento box passport because with every purchase you will be able to redeem a free appetizer at some of the participating restaurants, excluding Miku.

April 14: Indulge n’ Dance
Indulge n’ Dance features seven local pastry makers who are young entrepreneurs without a brick and mortar presence. You might find their treats at the baker’s market or online. Desserts are served from 8:30-10:30 pm and DJ Chelsea Joelle from Girls on Wax is spinning some great 80s/90s dance music after. The event is an excellent chance for the pastry chefs to showcase their favourite products and connect with Vancouver’s foodie community in a relaxed atmosphere.
Tickets for Indulge n’ Dance are $18 each which includes admission, one treat as well as one Salt Spring coffee beverage. Diehard dessert fans can also buy additional treat tickets at $6 each to avoid missing any of the delicious bites. and help support local pastry makers. In its 32nd year, the event will provide 700 wine enthusiasts the opportunity to talk one-on-one with passionate and knowledgeable vintners, and the chance to discover interesting new varietals, blends, and labels in a lively atmosphere. A silent auction will run throughout the evening featuring luxury hotel stays and gift certificates to top entertainment attractions, fine restaurants, and spas.

April 21: More than Recipes: Inspired Food Writing with Meeru Dhalwala
This Tyee Master Class will help you develop a good focus and organized plan to begin writing them down. Join Meeru Dhalwala of Vij’s restaurant for refreshments, catered hors d’oeuvres and four hours of intensive instruction on food, recipe and cookbook writing that will make your readers’ mouths water.
Registration fee is approximately $225 (HST and service fees included) and it includes four instructional hours, a home-cooked snack from Meeru, refreshments served by Tyee sommelier Justin Everett, and catering by Whole Foods.

April 22: Variety’s Annual Food Fight! The Battle for Brunch
In its 3rd year, this event brings together some of BC’s finest chefs in a battle for your taste buds as they prepare delicious brunch dishes for guests to enjoy and vote for their favourite! Participating restaurants include EBO Restaurant, Save On Meats, Terminal City Club, The Abercorn Hotel & Restaurant, Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort, and YEW restaurant + bar.

April 24-26: Crave – Dine Out in Burnaby Heights
For three nights only, from Tuesday, April 24 to Thursday, April 26, a number of restaurants in Burnaby Heights (North Burnaby) will feature something tasty and unique. They will offer a 3-course set menu priced at $15, $20 or $25 price points. It’s similar to Dine Out Vancouver, but in a neighbourhood and more affordable.
