eight 1/2 Restaurant Lounge

Thanks to the team at VANEATS, we were onto another food adventure. This time a 3-item salivEight dining pass at eight 1/2 Restaurant Lounge.

Food

Now, keep in mind that our dining pass was complimentary, courtesy of VANEATS. You will receive the same three items for $15.

To start, we had a Flight of Beer. Originally we were supposed to get two each of two types of Stanley Park Brewery beers, but they sold out one of them, so instead, we got R&B Brewing’s East Side Bitter and Stanley Park’s Winter Ale (Brun). I usually prefer lighter beer, and the East Side Bitter has a nice citrusy note, but in this case I actually liked the Stanley Park Brun more. It has just the right amount of hoppy taste in it.

You have a choice of three starters, and we chose the Baked Brie. I love brie; like it cold when eating with some crackers and genoa salami, and love it warm when the gooey cheese oozes out of the rind. The fact that this brie wedge was wrapped in filo just made it even better. The combination of crunchy filo and gooey cheese, mixed with the honey & chili sauce, worked really well together. It made a great spread on the toasted baguette slices.

Among the three types of thin crust pizza, we ordered the 8th Avenue. This is a pizza for meat lovers. The crust was nice and thin, not very greasy at the bottom. The edge might be a bit too dry for some but I didn’t mind it. It had plenty of hot calabrese and chorizo on the pie, and the use of banana peppers added some tang to the pizza.

At first, we were worried that this was too little food for the two of us. It turned out to be just right and we didn’t stuff ourselves. If you have a big appetite, between two people I would recommend ordering another appy or main in addition to this package.

Service

eight 1/2 may give you this fancy lounge vibe, but it’s really a friendly neighbourhood lounge. Servers were friendly and many customers seem to swing by just to do some catch-up over a glass of wine and some appies. A great find thanks to VANEATS.

Final Thoughts

The salivEight package is approximately 50% off regular price if you were to order the three items separately. Given the great quality of food we had, I found this to be a very good deal. I would recommend getting this dining pass, or just visit eight 1/2 and try its regular menu.
