[Recipe] Halloween Monster Finger Cookies

We are only a few days away from Halloween, and this Halloween isn’t going to be the same. We are all trying to be more creative and have fun, all the while being safe. Baking at home is definitely fit for this occasion. We made some monster fingers by adapting from a recipe on beanpanda.com. This is super easy to make and there are ways to involve your kids (or the kids in you)!

Ingredients

  • 50g Butter (Room Temperature)
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar
  • 10g Whisked Egg (or Liquid Eggs)
  • 90g Cake Flour
  • 20g Almond Powder
  • 16 Raw Almond (approximate)
Monster Finger Cookies

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 350F
  2. Mix the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl; work it into the consistency of cornmeal
  3. Add in the egg and mix well
  4. Add the flour and almond powder to the mixture
  5. Divide the dough into 2-inch pieces. Mould them into the shape of a finger. Place a raw almond at one end of the cookie. Use the back of a knife to score marks on the cookies so they look like fingers.
  6. Bake on middle rack for around 20 minutes to slightly golden brown

This recipe makes approximately 16 cookies.

Variations

If you are looking to add more colours and flavours to these cookies, you can substitute the 90g cake flour + 20g almond powder combo with the following:

  • Matcha: 100g cake flour + 2 teaspoons matcha powder
  • Chocolate: 90g cake flour + 20g cocoa powder

Tips

  • These cookies are pretty similar to shortbread cookies, so if you have a killer shortbread recipe, feel free to use it!
  • Get the kids to help! Ask them to help place the almonds on the cookie dough.
  • The almonds may fall off the cookies! Press the almond further in to make sure it stays on.
  • Make it more fun to eat! Dip this in chocolate sauce, Nutella, peanut butter, or spread some jam on it!
  • An adult way to eat this? Pair it with your favourite pumpkin ale or stout!

Be safe, have a wonderful Halloween!!

  1. We get very few kids on our street because it’s so dark and there are only houses on one side. I was contemplating not even turning lights on but the kiddies have been through enough this year! I think parents should make more fun things like these finger cookies, just to make the holiday even more special.

    1. You are totally right! It’s probably equally difficult on the parents to keep this holiday fun and “normal” for the kids while keeping them safe. Baking at home is definitely one option and a tasty one too!
