Pause n’ Sip Richmond 忙里偷闲

Pause n’ Sip opened its second location at Richmond’s Aberdeen Square in late November 2022. It’s conveniently located facing No. 3 Road and the Aberdeen SkyTrain station. I took my friend CC there and tried 3 of their signature drinks.

Bubble Tea

If you are a coconut fan, you will love Blue Jelly Coconut Milk. The sugar level is fixed but it’s not too sweet. It’s quite fun that it glows when you shine a light at it. And it’s only $5.99!

Lychee Fruit Tea has a pink hue to it thanks to the use of pink dragon fruit. There’s also lychee meat and jelly boba (aka white pearls aka 寒天) so there’s a lot of different texture in this drink. It reminds me of the classic lychee green tea that I used to order when I first started having bubble tea, except this is an elevated version with real, fresh fruit.

I always order the classic milk tea at every new BBT shop as a benchmark, so I ordered the Ceylon Milk Tea with Pearls and Grass Jelly. I ordered 50% sugar and 30% ice and it’s just right for me. I did find the grass jelly to be not as smooth and bouncy (QQ) like the BBT shops hailed from Taiwan, but the pearls’ texture was good. Tip: The Pearl Milk Tea uses the same tea and you save about $0.10 by ordering this instead of Ceylon Milk Tea and add pearls.

Final Thoughts

Overall I thought their drinks were comparable to the big brands hailed from Taiwan. I loved the fact that their drinks are very reasonably priced. Lots of options under $6 which is, sadly, kinda rare these days. Their space is also nicely decorated, great for hanging out. So if you’re in the area, go check them out!
