Updated Aug 16, 2010: Congratulations to Katherine who is the winner of the $25 White Spot gift certificate. A BIG thanks to those who participated. This was our 1st contest so your support was very much appreciated.
On August 18, 2010, White Spot will hold its 3rd annual “Pirate Pak Day“. Although Pirate Pak has always been the Kids Meal option at White Spot, on this special day guests of any age can enjoy a Pirate Pak. Why? Because for the first time ever, White Spot has put together an “Adult Pak” that’s available on August 18 and for just this one day only. Similar to the kids version, the Adult Pak includes one of the following plus coleslaw, French fries, a beverage, a scoop of ice cream and a chocolate “gold” coin:
- Legendary Burger
- BC Chicken Burger
- Chargrilled Veggie Burger
What’s Pirate Pak Day?
Through Pirate Pak Day, White Spot is raising money to send kids with serious medical conditions to Zajac Ranch for Children for an unforgettable summer camp experience. So on August 18, $2 from the sale of each Pirate Pak will help fund White Spot Week at Zajac Ranch.

here is my comment for another entry (unfortunately i do not have facebook so will have to settle for 2 entries)
1) summer camping is great for a fire in the outdoors with silence and enjoying nature, it would be nice if my ancient blackberry could support the star map app but such is life
2) fave camping moment is always setting up the tent inside and out as it’s like planting a flag stating that we are here and staying the night

The first time i took my good city slicker friend camping, she didn’t ask me what was neccesary for a car camping trip.
I had to conviscate her ‘camping heels’. I was incredulous at the time. Now I just laugh and laugh.

My favourite camping moment would have to be from many many winters ago….
It was sunny winter day on our camping trip to Manning Park. We set-out to build our very first quinsy (an igloo like snow cave). At the end of the day we had accomplished the amazing task and snuggled in for a long winters nap. Part way through the night I awoke to the claustrophobic feeling of the collapsed ceiling of snow just inches away from my face. Needless to say we spent the rest of the trip in our tent!

My favorite camping story is when I hit a ‘hole-in-one’ during a golfing tournament in Winnipeg. Although I received a trophy for this ‘achievment’ the real prize was that the golf course sponsored a deserving child for a 2 week summer camping experience in my name.

Summer camping or camping in general is the most memorable when things are not perfect; forgotten items, ants, untimely visits by night creatures and when they are perfect; a spectacular sunset or sunrise, the mist on a lake and the sound of a loon. Anytime outdoors just enjoying God’s abundance is truly memorable.

a tip to make summer camping memorable:
pick a rainy day and go camping. regardless what kind of tent you got, your tent will leak to an extent after a few hours of strong wind and pouring rain. have buckets ready to catch the water and hold on to the tent to prevent it from flying away…
if you sucessfully and safely spent the night in such condition, your camping trip should be very memorable!

My favourite camping moments are probably from my first time camping as a teenager. Everything was new and for a moment in the “eeeew” zone! It all culminated in our final night campfire singalong and to this day, that song by The Proclaimers will always remind me of that moment!
The way to make camping memorable is to bring creative games and get your friends involved!
