Cha Tra Mue – Famous Thai Tea Shop Now in Vancouver

The OG Thai Tea brand Cha Tra Mue has opened a tea shop in Vancouver! If you are a fan of Thai milk tea, you would recognize this brand from packages or tins of tea mix you can get at grocery stores. Cha Tra Mue is actually the original creator of what we now know as Thai milk tea (they just call it Thai tea) and they’ve been doing it since 1945. To not dilute the flavour by serving it on ice, they brew their tea stronger and bolder so they can stay rich and full-bodied over ice. This Broadway location is the first one in Vancouver and I was among the first to check out the store.

At this moment, they have a small menu but I was told that they will be adding new and seasonal items as time goes on. The drinks are priced between $6.50 and $7.00 with toppings at $0.85 each. There is also Thai Tea Slushy and soft serve ice cream on the menu.

While I was there, I tried two drinks. Of course, I had to order the signature Thai Tea. It’s rich, aromatic and creamy. I ordered it at 30% sweetness plus Brown Sugar Konjac topping and I thought it was the right amount of sweetness for me. You can’t adjust the ice level but I thought it’s appropriate for this brand. I imagine they have perfected their recipe based on serving the drinks on a certain amount of ice so they have to keep that aspect the same but adjust the sugar level per personal preference for each customer.

The other drink was the Lime Lychee Honey Rose Tea with Konjac topping, and I adored the rose-patterned cup specifically for this series. It’s very floral and it’s balanced by the fragrant lychee and the subtle tartness from the lime. I also ordered this at 30% sweetness and I found it refreshing.

I also tried the Thai Tea Soft Serve. It’s very creamy, and the texture was quite thick. The flavour was bold and I liked that it wasn’t overly sweet. They have multiple slushy machines going for the Thai Tea Slushy, and I bet it will be super popular when summer comes.

The interior is spacious with tables and seats for approximately 15 people right now. They also have self-serve ordering kiosks so as long as they can keep up with the drink orders, the wait shouldn’t be too bad.

Their Milk Green Tea is another signature item but I didn’t get to try. I’ll have to go back to get it. Between February 13-19, 2026, you get two drinks for $9.99 when you order the Original Thai Tea or Milk Green Tea. Will you check it out?
