Brunch Buffet at H2 Rotisserie & Bar + Giveaway

[Editor’s Note: This giveaway is now closed. Winner has been chosen and contacted. Thank you for entering.]

When I say “hotel breakfast”, what comes to mind? I would think of a la carte standard affairs, or varied quality of “continental breakfast” from 2-3 star hotels.

We are lucky in Vancouver in a sense that there are many hotels offering delicious, not your typical breakfast/brunch options, e.g. Tableau, Mosaic, Yew, Blvd. Enter the new player, H2 Rotisserie & Bar at Westin Bayshore, which offers a weekend brunch buffet.

I was invited to sample H2’s brunch buffet and wow, it was a big spread. It certainly has the typical brunch items such as eggs, pancakes, waffles, bacon and sausages. But what caught my eyes were the following:

Rotisserie chicken carving station – H2 prides itself for its rotisserie chicken so I wasn’t surprised to see it at brunch. Walk up to the chef on duty and they will get you a slice (or two) of white and/or dark meat.

Dim sum/congee station – it serves up har gow (shrimp dumplings), siu mai (pork dumplings), BBQ pork buns, and sticky rice. Oh you can also build your own congee bowl, but it’s located in a different section of the buffet line.

Made to order french toast station – they literally soaked the bread in the yummy custard, heat up the pan with some butter, and made me my French toast right in front of me.

It took maybe 5-10 minutes but it’s nice and warm, and rich and indulgent.

Lots and lots of pastries – oh goodness I can just feast on the selection of pastries and be full. Various types of danishes, donuts, croissants, etc.

Build your own harvest bowl – OK, if you know me well, you know I’m not a huge fan of grains and oats and nuts or anything too healthy. So I must admit, I only admired how pretty this station looked and didn’t get myself anything here, despite how many different ingredients there were to build a harvest bowl.

Mimosa flight – this is not included in your brunch (tea, coffee and juices are, however) but I think it’s worth ordering it. $12 and you get to try 3 types of mimosas. I had the orange, grapefruit and floral mimosas and they were all tasty.

Besides the highlights above, there was also smoked salmon (and lots of them!), charcuterie board, curry, fruit platter, cakes and more.

Overall, I really enjoyed the variety of items in the buffet, and the quality was quite good. $35 is not cheap for brunch but considering what you get for the money, I would recommend checking them out. I wonder if they would raise the price on special holidays, though, because this would also be a good option to celebrate Mother’s Day or Easter or Thanksgiving.

H2 also has a “Haul it Home” menu, aka the restaurant’s take-out menu. It allows customers to pre-place their order online and then pick it up within 30 minutes. Until November 30, 2017, every customer who places a first time order of $25 or more (from the “Haul it Home” menu) will receive a voucher redeemable for one complimentary brunch at H2’s weekend brunch buffet (valid for one person until December 17; valued at $35).

  1. I normally have congee/dimsum and pancakses as my brunch but I would love to add salmon smoke in my trying list too if I am lucky to be chosen😍

  2. This is a no-brainer: eggs benny! Soft but it’s a hard toss between smoked salmon or mushroom & avocado! Although if drinks are included as a “brunch item”, a good caesar would be a tough contender!

  3. This is a no-brainer: eggs bennies! Soft poached but a hard toss between smoked salmon and a mushroom-avocado combo. If Caesars were considered a “brunch item” that’d be a third contender right there!

  4. A memorable brunch with lifelong friends in the heart of Old Montreal still makes my mouth water! Nothing like great food to celebrate friendship! ❤
