On March 21, Jugo Juice launched a revamped food menu with 4 new sandwiches and 5 new wraps.
The new sandwiches are served on heritage sourdough from local bakery Terra Breads or a brand new natural and preservative free artisan bun from Ace Bakery called schiacciata.
I was invited to a media tasting of the new items and got to try the 4 sandwiches:
Mediterranean Roasted Vegetable on schiacciata bread
Philly Cheesesteak on schiacciata bread
Chicken Caprese on schiacciata bread
Sweet & Spicy Apple Grilled Cheese on heritage sourdough
All sandwiches are served panini style, so they are pressed and toasted to order. Both types of bread have a nice firm (read: hard, but in a good way), crunchy yet chewy texture to them. Around the room everyone seemed to love the grilled cheese but my personal favourites were the Philly Cheesesteak and Chicken Caprese. Funny enough, the two options with meat! I thought the various ingredients gave different texture, and these two were more hearty and satisfying for me.
The new wraps were not served at the event but they are:
- Steak and Egg Breakfast Wrap
- Italiano Breakfast Wrap
- Siracha Sweet Chili Chicken
- Kale Chicken Caesar
- Santa Fe Chicken & Avocado
Now I must say, I don’t usually order food at Jugo Juice, so I have no idea how the new menu compares to the old one. But for $7.95/sandwich and $4.95/wrap, it’s not bad for a quick bite.
In addition to the food items, Jugo Juice also launched a new smoothie called Meet Your Matcha. It contains blueberries, bananas, matcha green tea powder and unsweetened almond milk. Its look is deceiving! It’s in this pretty purple colour so you would expect a blueberry bomb but it was the banana flavour that hit me first, followed by prominent matcha taste. It’s quite delicious, and you know it’s full of vitamin and antioxidants.
We were told that the smoothie recipe was chosen from over 200 entries in Jugo Juice’s annual March smoothie recipe contest, and then the name was selected from over 300 entries in a separate smoothie naming contest. The smoothie is priced at $7.95 and is available for a limited time only until June 13, 2018.
Final Thoughts
I may not go to Jugo Juice very often but I’ve always liked its smoothies. Now with this revamped food menu, I thought there’s another reason for me to frequent Jugo Juice from this point on.
