Aaaaaaaaand the final beer from Parallel 49 this year is…a Belgian Quad spiced with Orange, Chocolate, and Habanero! Traditional? No. Interesting? Heck yeah!
Clear amber pour with minimal head. Aroma brings out sweet, spicy yeast. Flavour is sweet, sugary, bit of yeast esters, orange is weak to non-existent, with a light peppery spice on the finish. Makes me think of a lighter version of a pepper spiced beer I had back at VCBW. Part of me thinks it would have been awesome if they had just gone nuts and made the habanero really kick, but I’m OK with this subtle take too. It’s still quite good.
